We welcome parents who are able to come into school to help with many of our school activities such as helping in the classrooms and helping with educational visits.
This kind of Parental involvement helps to establish and maintain the kind of mutual understanding and co-operation between home and school which is vital to a happy school.
All regular volunteers must undergo a DBS security check.
We are fortunate to have a Parent Teacher Association, called ‘Puzzle Partners’ which works extremely hard for the benefit of the school. They organise a number of interesting events during the year for both parents and children, and raise vital funds, which enable us to provide many exciting ‘extras’ for our pupils. We hope you will support them and in turn support your child. If you are interested in joining, please inform the school office.
Curriculum evenings are held twice a year to inform parents about our school curriculum, and new educational initiatives or special projects. We also hold regular ‘Learn2Gether’ sessions when you can work alongside your child to find out more about what we do in school. We hope you will be able to join us. Regular newsletters, information sheets and booklets are sent home as appropriate.
We also have a school website (see link below) with additional information, home learning activities and many links to other sites of interest.
Mrs Jo Hill is our Parent Support Advisor, whose job is to offer help and support to parents and pupils whenever it is required. Her job mirrors the main aim of our school – to help children enjoy, learn and achieve – but with the key difference that whilst teachers focus on pupils, her work focuses on parents and extended families – recognising the important part they play in the achievement of their children.
Mrs Hill will help the school to deliver the extended services that our parents need and has the knowledge needed to signpost parents to other providers when specialist experts are required. She will be available in school every morning and can be contacted via the school office. If you prefer to communicate by email, or need to contact her when school is closed, then please try the following email address, firstname.lastname@example.org
We run a wide range of out of school activities for pupils in Years One and Two. Many sporting clubs are offered such as Netball, Dance, Gymnastics, Football, Hockey, Athletics, Tag Rugby, Zumba and Tae Kwon Do. In addition we offer Computers, Photography, Board Games, Choir, Creative Crafts and Drama. The cost of these clubs is met in the main out of the school budget. We ask for a small contribution of £6 for the whole year. I hope you will agree that this is very good value for money!
Our breakfast club offers a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children to start the day, coupled with a nutritious breakfast, fuel for the coming working day! It opens daily from 7.45 until 8.55 and costs £3 per day. We offer a range of cereals, toast, yogurt, fruit and fruit juice. A range of games and activities are provided after breakfast until school begins. If you are a busy working parent, our club offers the convenience you require, as your child is safely installed in their school environment, one ‘drop off’ and you have no more worries! Bookings for breakfast club need to be made in advance with staff in the school office.
Our group offers a great chance for your child to get involved in a ‘school’ environment and will foster lots of skills needed for when your little one starts nursery – not only a chance to make new friends and socialise, but a chance for you too, we all need ‘adult’ conversation to get us through the day! Our sessions run on Tuesday mornings during term-time only from 9.00a.m. until 10.30a.m. We make every effort to vary our range of activities as much as possible. However, sharing our space with school makes the provision of very messy resources such as sand and water difficult. Practical alternatives that are interesting, educational and fun will be offered. Please pop into the school office if you would like more information or to put your child’s name on the waiting list.
We are able to offer fee-paying lessons in piano, guitar and ballet. All lessons are provided by qualified practitioners. Piano lessons take place during the school day and cost £3.50 per lesson. Ballet lessons take place at the end of the school day and cost £2.50 per lesson.
