We welcome parents who are able to come into school to help with many of our school activities such as helping in the classrooms and helping with educational visits.
This kind of Parental involvement helps to establish and maintain the kind of mutual understanding and co-operation between home and school which is vital to a happy school.
All regular volunteers must undergo a DBS security check.
Curriculum evenings are held twice a year to inform parents about our school curriculum, and new educational initiatives or special projects. We also hold regular ‘Learn2Gether’ sessions when you can work alongside your child to find out more about what we do in school. We hope you will be able to join us. Regular newsletters, information sheets and booklets are sent home as appropriate.
We also have a school website (see link below) with additional information, home learning activities and many links to other sites of interest.
We run a wide range of out of school activities for pupils in Years One and Two. Many sporting clubs are offered such as , Athletics, Team games, Dance, Gymnastics, Football, Hockey. In addition we offer Computers, Photography, Board Games, Choir, Lego and Drama. The cost of these clubs is met in the main out of the school budget. We ask for a small contribution of £6 for the whole year. I hope you will agree that this is very good value for money!
Our breakfast club offers a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children to start the day, coupled with a nutritious breakfast, fuel for the coming working day! It opens daily from 7.45 until 8.55 and costs £3 per day. We offer a range of cereals, toast, yogurt, fruit and fruit juice. A range of games and activities are provided after breakfast until school begins. If you are a busy working parent, our club offers the convenience you require, as your child is safely installed in their school environment, one ‘drop off’ and you have no more worries! Bookings for breakfast club need to be made in advance with staff in the school office.
Our group offers a great chance for your child to get involved in a ‘school’ environment and will foster lots of skills needed for when your little one starts nursery – not only a chance to make new friends and socialise, but a chance for you too, we all need ‘adult’ conversation to get us through the day! Our sessions run on Tuesday mornings during term-time only from 9.00a.m. until 10.30a.m. We make every effort to vary our range of activities as much as possible. However, sharing our space with school makes the provision of very messy resources such as sand and water difficult. Practical alternatives that are interesting, educational and fun will be offered. Please pop into the school office if you would like more information or to put your child’s name on the waiting list.
We are able to offer fee-paying lessons for piano. All lessons are provided by qualified practitioners. Piano lessons take place during the school day and cost £3.50 per lesson.
