  • School nurses visited Year 2

    Year 2 were visited by our school nurses today. They talked about the job of a school nurse and the difference between physical and mental health. The children explored how to stay physically healthy and about emotions such as feeling upset or worried and strategies to help. The children talked about who would help them if they were upset and made a 'Helping Hand' of people they could go to  to talk. The nurses explained about trusted adults and ways to calm themselves - Star breathing and Grounding with 5 senses; 5 things you can see, feel, hear, smell and taste.
  • Visited by the police car!

    Nursery were so excited this week to be visited by one of our mums PC Tranter who talked to the children about how the police keep children safe. They even got to have a sneaky look inside the police car and tested the siren too!
  • Community links - Visiting the elderly

    Our Nursery children had fun meeting the elderly residents at Swan House. They sang songs to them, shared a story, had cake and juice, coloured in pictures and even played musical statues. What a wonderful way to bring different generations together and make new friends!
  • Internet Safety Day

    Today is National Internet Safety day - we have been talking about how to keep safe online. Year 1 and Year 2 have been talking about Gaming - the ages restrictions on games and which are appropriate and not for their age. Please support us in keeping children as children by adhering to the age limits. 
  • Comfy Day

    The whole school concluded Children's Mentally Healthy week by wearing comfy clothes. Children and adults alike were wearing pyjamas, dressing gowns, slippers or gym clothes today. All around school the atmosphere was calm as children shared stories with staff on cushions on the floor, had hot chocolate and congratulated each other on their acts of bravery from throughout the week.

    We spent a whole week being brave! Mr Lloyd talked to everyone about how to 'Find your brave' as part of Children's Mentally Healthy week. We talked about how keeping your mind, brain and thoughts positive and happy is as important as having a healthy body and healthy food!
  • Sign to sing

    To launch Children's Mentally Healthy week children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 learnt to sing and sign 'Joining hands today'. We linked with schools across the country to sing and sign to raise awareness of the importance of communicating in different ways. Signing is something which is so important to us as a school and community. Thank you to everyone who donated money to the deaf health charity 'Signhealth'. Our dear friend Fletch who you can check out on You Tube teaches children, choirs and groups how to sign to music!
